happy birthday to me

my birthday was a few weeks ago and i finally got to go to kinokuniya, a bookstore in japantown with a fabulous selection of sewing books.  i could have stayed all day and flipped through them - i ended up with three new ones.

i embarked on my sewing adventure this weekend, tracing patterns onto drawing paper (i use paper from the kids' easel).  i am making easter outfits for the kiddos - a little cap sleeved dress for ellie and a band-collared shirt and shorts for wiley.  i will post an update on the projects soon.

i also bought a book of adult patterns and am hoping to make some new spring clothes for me - i have not sewed for myself in a while.

while i was there, i also bought several japanese tea towels to repurpose for sewing.  the fabrics are so great, i just could not resist! 

i've already sewed up a few zipper pouches that i put in my etsy shop.
